I did not like Professor knight at all. Perception is a really hard class as it is, and he just made it even more difficult. The book makes more sense then him. He has a hard time relating to other students. If you ask him for an example, he wont be able to do it. The exams are really hard! He does curve them though. When ever anyone would ask him a question in class he would always answer with "i dont understand what you are asking". I went to him for help once and it was not helpful at all.
A pretty easy class, and an interesting one as well. Dr. Knight clearly seems to possess a good amount of knowledge on the subject, but he sometimes struggles in conveying pieces of information in terms that might be more readily understood by those who are not as familiar with perception lingo. Isn't always prepared at the beginning of class, (though a malfunctioning computer seemed largely to blame for this). I think he usually enjoys teaching and is often entertaining and witty, though from time to time he seems to lose his enthusiasm and lecture begins to fall apart (hence the "Notes or lectures seem confusing or unorganized" rating above, though most of the time his lectures are very organized and the lecture notes offered at the end of each week are invariably so). I can recommend his Perception class; he's a good professor.
Positive:
Is interesting/entertaining/funny
Shows a great knowledge of subject matter
Has enthusiasm in the classroom
Negative:
Notes/lecture is confusing
He's a quirky/funny guy and I believe he loves what he teaches. He seems to love the topic of the visual system and since vision is a big deal in perceptual psych, he devotes a huge amount of time to vision.
Positive:
Good professor.
I would recommend this professor
Is interesting/entertaining/funny
Shows a great knowledge of subject matter
Comes to class organized
Negative:
Laughs at his own jokes a lot (even though they aren't really jokes). Boring class, but very easy.
Positive:
Comes to class organized
Negative:
Professor is boring or bland
I had absolutely no problems with this class. I showed up to class, did my best to pay attention and actually did the reading, and my lowest grade on a test was a 93%. The course material isn't that hard, and neither are the tests. The tests are all multiple choice, but the place to solidify good grades is in the written assignments. Dr. Knight appreciates good writing, no matter what your opinion is. If he says "Write 1-2 pages," Write as close to 2 pages as you can, without a lot of B.S., and he will give you 100%. His lectures can get a little boring, but all his notes are online. A good professor that gets the job done in Gen Ed 130, Individual and Society.
