Ruth Whitmore

You either love her or you hate her. I haven't met too many who love her. She makes this class waaaaaay too hard! She asigns waaaaaaaay too much homework that she never oes over. She simply grades it and returns it. She'll give you the answer, but she wont show you the process. Tests consist of work that was never taught in class. She doesn't relate to students AT ALL!! Try emailing her and you'll get a smug response if any at all. Avoid taking her if you can!!!

Professor Whitmore is a very good prof for math. If your an art or communication major/minor, your only required to take 140 OR 141. So as the last math class I will probably take, I enjoyed it. She encourages doing the homework assignments on her syllabus, but she only makes you write and turn in 2 of them and you get graded out of 5 points for each assignment. There are 3 unit tests and the final is an extension project, which you research a specific topic that she did not cover in class. You write a 2-3 page paper and present to the class. She is very nice and always willing to help. Class is let out early every now and then, but if you need help she stays for the remaining time to help out students with anything. I highly recommed Professor Whitmore for Math 140 or 141. Her teaching style is very unique and she makes it easy to understand.

This professor is not one that I would recommend or ever take again. I had her for both 148 and 149. She is very challenging and unclear in her expectations. she doesnt go over homework whatsoever and expects you to know it during testing. her reasoning behind that is because she gives you the answer. she is not approachable and gets frustrated when students dont understand her. avoid at all costs

I don't know why so many people have a problem with her. I took this course over the summer and absolutely loved it. Professor Whitmore is very knowledgeable in her field and I would definitely recommend taking her!! Her tests were long, but not difficult.
