Mme Turek is not a good Proff for beginners, she moves to quickly through the information. I have taken french before in middle and high school and i still find this class difficult. I will probably pass with a C I DO NOT recommend her class for beginners. You have about an assignment every week and a quiz every two along with about 6 or 7 exams. She gives you full credit for doing the homework. Exams are hard and attendance is mandatory. You strictly get 3 absences.

Positive:

Shows a love of teaching

Involves students in every lecture

Negative:

Would not recommend this professor

Confusing or hard to understand

Expectations are unclear or lofty

Notes/lecture is confusing

Makes class too challenging

I love Mme Turek! She's an amazing professor and person in general. She really is passionate about the French language and culture. She wants you to learn and wants you to be comfortable and have fun while you learn. I was terrified the first day of class because I thought I was way behind in French and sucked at speaking, but after talking to her I was instantly comfortable and speaking up a storm. Her classes are challenging but that's because she wants to make sure you get the most out of it. I'm looking forward to this next semester and going to France in the spring. Sheila is a great professor and I'd even recommend taking her if you weren't immediately drawn to French!

She is nice as a person but she should not be teaching beginning French!! Her tests are very hard and she does not explain things and she talks in French almost the entire time so everyone is confused. DO NOT TAKE HER!! She expects her class to be the only one you study for is VERY difficult and you have to put in a lot of effort to even do okay.

Positive:

Is interesting/entertaining/funny

Shows a great knowledge of subject matter

Negative:

Would not recommend this professor

Overly difficult tests or assignments

Notes/lecture is confusing

Although Sheila Turek is by no means an "Easy A" her class is certainly worth taking. Although I still love my High School French teacher a tad more, Prof Turek comes in close. She presents all the material in a well organized, and easy to understand manner. If you want to learn the French language, and are willing to put in the work, definitely take her class.
