Had Colwin for Intro. to Theater. He's not a bad instructor, but I don't think he's used to teaching. He's used to being behind the scenes in the theater dept., so I think sometimes his roles are confused. You just need to go to class and pay attention. If you do that, you will do fine. Intro. to Theater is actually a really fun course, just kind of get in with the discussions in class or he'll go crazy!!

Although he has retired, he will attend your show and afterward meet up and give you the honest truth about your design and give pointers.

like a few of you have said, I know him. Not just from one class or two, I have taken about 10 classes with him as well as 5 years with him helping outside of class. If you put forth an effort and an interest he can be your best asset at this university. If you say the words "I can't" that will make him mad. Let him know you are having a problem and he will work with you untill you understand or can do it yourself.

I have had Tom for several classes and yes he is hard to understand or interpret but if you ask questions and become involved with the class rather than just sit back and take notes you will excell. And talk to him outside of class, whether it is about class or any other related material. He is a giant wealth of knowledge and information. I am saddened to hear that he will retire soon.
