Virgil Miller

He is so funny. He relates the subject to students lives using his own personal experiences. He knows that most people dread taking the class so you only have two speeches and a group presentation. He is somewhat of a tough grader on speeches, but not too bad. Attendence is taken almost every class so be there. Otherwise, he makes class very fun and interesting so students are glad to come.

The one dissapointing thing I have to say about Prof. Miller is that the only reason he downgraded me (to an 85%) on my informative speech was because my "topic was not informative/entertaining enough." Otherwise, he really seems to know what he's talking about and comes to class organized with everything you need to know. His tests are not bad if you study for them. As far as his "um" problem goes, he seems to have a slight problem with social anxiety so good for him with dealing with it so well! Oh, and he still remembers my name after three semesters.

who said this guy is a bad professor? you people are insane. this guy is awesome. he has really great teaching methods that help him make his points. and he does not say "um" excessivly, i really have not heard it at all. he has tough requirements and will nail you if you waste his time. he makes great use of the net to post lecture notes/assignments. his tests are easy, and the speeches are not that bad. he is a good professor to take for this class.

i can't say all bad about this man, but i'm only 6 weeks into his speech class and i hate him. he talks to me like i'm 3, and tries to "come down" to the students level. he degrades us without blatantly saying it....he really doesn't do well explaining things and is changes the way he explains things as many times as he says um(which is alot) and then downgrades you for accidentally saying um once in your speech...i wouldn't recommend him unless you like boring lectures and every other day group work with people you don't know
