I'm the person that made the previous comment. Turns out I didn't give him enough time to prove himself. Forget what I said before and forget what that person said below. Dr. Chen is a superb teacher and is by far one of the best in the math department...if you have a chance to take him, do it.

Go read what the person wrote on 12/01/2006 for Abstract Algebra (3rd post from bottom). That couldn't have been a better write-up for this professor. That's exactly the same way I feel right now. He's a cool guy and knows his stuff and I'll end up getting a B, but I'm not quite sure I've learned the material fully.

he has a VERY heavy accent, and is hard to understand. HE moves very quickly in the material, i had to go get help in the class from another math professor i could understand.

Do your research, show him a few tricks that he didn't teach you and you have an A. Professor Chen is one of the better professors in the math dept. and if you don't like his accent, the chose another prof. He's a nice guy and grades very fairly.
