1. How do I post an evaluation on my professor?

It's very easy! Just click on Rate Your Prof and you'll be taken to a page with a U.S. and Canada map. Click on your state, province or territory. Next you'll see a list of schools (categorized by size). Find yours, select it and hit the "GO" button. Depending on whether any evaluations have been posted on your school or for your individual professors, you might need to click on a link to go to the "Add an Evaluation" form. If your professor has been evaluated by other students, you'll need to select the "Add my Evaluation!" link on the professor's page. Once you reach the evaluation form, just fill in your professor's name, select a grade for your professor (A+ to F), check a few attributes and type in your comments. Hit the "Submit" button and you're done! (top)

2. How do I read evaluations on my professors?

This is a cinch! Just click on Read Evaluations and you'll be taken to a page with a U.S. and Canada map. Click on your state, province or territory. Next you'll see a list of schools (categorized by size). Find yours, select it and hit the "GO" button. If professors from your school have been evaluated, then you'll find a list of professors, grouped alphabetically. Find your professor, click on their name and you're done! If your professor isn't there, why don't you add them? (top)

3. I'm having trouble clicking on my state on the U.S. map

You must be living in one of the tiny New England states. Just click on your state's initials instead! (top)

4. What if there are no evaluations for my professor or school?

If no evaluations have been posted, you'll be given the opportunity to add your own. (top)

5. Do I have to be enrolled in school to post an evaluation?

Nope. Alumni are welcome to post evaluations, but please don't evaluate professors you took classes from 20 years ago- as they could be retired, deceased or a far different professor today. (top)

6. Do I have to know the full name of my professor?

Yes and no. You'll need to know their first and last name, but even if you mess up on the spelling your evaluation will be posted. We require you to type a professor's full name to avoid confusion. For example, let's say someone posts an evaluation for a "S. Smith" and selects English as their subject. Is that Steve Smith, who teaches British Lit or Stephanie Smith who teaches Intro to Shakespeare? Without requiring you to type a first name, we'll never know...(top)

7. Do I have to know course number of my class?

The only time you memorize a course number is for finding overpriced textbooks! Since course numbers change often, we have made the decision not to make this a mandatory part of professor evaluations. If you want to tell others which course it was, please type it in the text box. (top)

8. Why am I asked if I want to register on the evaluation form?

You're only required to register if you want to enter any of our contests. If you just want to post or read an evaluation, registration is not required. (top)

9. Will my e-mail address be distributed or sold?

Never! We consider ourselves to be part of the "non-bastard" species of the human race. Please see our Privacy Pledge for more information. (top)

10. What is the A+ Club?

Well, it has absolutely nothing to do with Mr. T. The A+ Club is a page on our site that showcases professors who have been evaluated with an average grade of B+ or better. Why B+? It's all about the curve, baby... (top)

11. Can you notify me if new evaluations have been added for my professor?

Absolutely. On the professor's evaluation page, look for a link called E-mail Me! Click on it to learn more...(top)

12. Can you notify me if new evaluations have been added for my school?

We thought about it, but we decided it might be better not to bomb anyone's e-mail account with hundreds of e-mails daily (which is what might happen if someone goes to a big school). (top)

13. There are astericks in my evaluation, what gives?

Your language, apparently. We have measures in place to block foul language. While opinions always have a place on this site, abusive language doesn't. (top)

14. I need to report a false, misleading or libelous evaluation.

While we make every attempt to remove evaluations of this type, take a moment to consider a few things before e-mailing us. First, are you positive that the evaluation in question fits a category present in our legal disclaimer? If the answer is no, then don't submit it. We have a small staff and investigating such claims is very time-consuming. Second- are you a professor? If so, you have every right to challenge evaluations you think are unjust. However, be careful not to let initial emotions cloud your judgment. Please see our Educators page. Third, is there a way we can check to verify your claim? If we can't find a reasonable way to investigate the claim, then the evaluation will be left as is. (top)

15. Can I submit a "Weekly Survey " to you?

We have a guy on staff who lives to write these things, but if you can think of something better than what mokey boy comes up with- go for it. Avoid recent news items, as it is uncertain when we'll be able to use it. (top)
