So, do you like my new outfit? What do you mean you didn't notice!?

We've spent some time fixing up the site; the Quote of the Moment, sidebar, and homepage are all New and Improved! We're trying to move the design of our site out of the early '90s and into the current millennium. For non-artsy folks like us, that just means boxes with rounded corners. Mmmm... rounded corners...

In other news, we finally convinced Ross and Kasey to get their act together and post some new content. It wasn't easy to get those two to do an honest day's work - let's just say the elimination of the assault rifle ban was most timely! There are also some new Hilarious Posts for your amusement and new Quotes of the Moment. And most important of all, you have added nearly 3,000 evaluations over the course of two months. Amazing! We'll make you deal: you keep on writing about your profs and we'll keep on working on the site. Rounded corners for everyone!

Why, hello there. I know it has been awhile since we've talked, but that doesn't mean we don't love ya, baby. So What's New with you? As for us, you may have noticed that our domain has changed from MyProfessorSucks.com to ProfessorPerformance.com. The new name gives a kinder, gentler feel to our corner of the web and makes us sound less like a fetish porn site than ever before!

Also of note is that we just recently passed 50,000 professor evaluations. We are amazed at how the site has grown over the years; you have our warmest thanks for your support. Our current goal is to streamline and improve ProfessorPerformance - we're working to bring you new content, better aesthetics, and a brand new homepage. We're taking our time to perfect the beat, and yes, we've still got love for the streets.

* BIG NEWS *

In perhaps the biggest announcement to be posted on this page thus far, we have made the decision to change our domain name.

Yes, "MyProfessorSucks.com" will now become ?

To help us choose a new name, we need your help.

However, some of you may be wondering: why? Why did you decide to change the name in the first place?

While it was a complicated and difficult decision, the following reasons stood out:

1. Our current name is often thought of negatively when first encountered by students and professors alike. While we never think it's fair to judge a book by its cover, we do realize it happens.

2. The focus of our site is slowly changing. While we pride ourselves on being a destination for professor evaluations, we soon will be adding more features that will create a one-stop "college community" site. These will include forums and games and may also include classifieds for students, student auctions, personalized e-mail addresses, student submissions and a picture rating feature. We hope that our new name perhaps says "community" more than "professors" to interested students.

3. Potential advertisers have been turned-off by our current name. None of us got into MyProfessorSucks.com to make money, which is good, because we haven't. While we wouldn't mind owning an island or something, we would rather attract quality advertisers to our site to we can spread the word using advertisements (such as ads placed in campus newspapers). But without a less controversial name, it is difficult to find advertisers willing to take a chance.

So, those are some reasons why the change will occur. Please understand that little will change besides our name. Our content, staff and purpose will remain the same: we haven't been bought by AOL or anything. So help us find our new name...

Some folks have asked us: how many student evaluations is a grade based off of? It's a good question, as a "C+" grade based on 23 evaluations might bear more weight than an "A+" grade with only one.

So today we have implemented a numerical system for all school and A+ club pages which shows our users exactly how many evaluations have been posted for the professor in question. Right next to the professor's grade , you'll see a number and the word "evals" (example: 8 evals).

So, you want to know how many folks have evaluated a particular professor? Now you know...in one glance.

We've been hearing from quite a few of you that you were tired of all the advertisements on our site...

We hear ya! Today we removed 33 percent of all graphical ads on our site, including the tall "skyscraper" ads that used to line the right side of most pages.

While we do need advertising revenue to help promote MyProfessorSucks.com, we will not annoy our users immensely to do it.

We improved upon comment reporting today by adding a field that allows the person submitting the comment to also include their e-mail address.

This will allow us to contact the person if we have questions and also e-mail them with our decision about whether we have deleted, edited or moved the comment in question.

Another day, another feature introduced to make finding and evaluating your professors even easier. Prevously, if you wanted to find a professor, but we'ren't sure of their last name, you had to surf through each letter of the alphabet.

But today, we've introduced SHOW ALL links. one is located in the Professor Search Box on your school's main page and the other is located at the bottom of all internal school pages (it's located just to the left of the individual letters of alphabet).

So, if you want to see ALL profs at your school, now you can do it in one click...

A few guys on our staff are University of Florida grads, but I'm sure they'd have no problem with the article that appeared in Florida State's FSView & Florida Flambeau. If they do, well, they're fired. The article was penned by Travis Miller.

Today we implemented a new feature that will make it easier for users to let us know which comments perhaps don't belong: comment reporting

While we do have filters in place meant to catch libelous, defamatory, slanderous or profane posts, occasionally some slip through the cracks. If you see a comment that you think should be looked at by our staff, just click the link which says: Should this comment be removed or edited? Click here to learn more. It's that easy!

There's nothing as refreshing as starting off a week with a whole wave of students visiting our site for the first time.

Prior to today we were virgins at Kansas State University (no, not literally!). We had no evaluations posted at KSU, but I'm sure this will change after a great article by Amy Preston for The Kansas State Collegian.

Her article examines our site and a similar evaluation site being developed at KSU.

Ouch! I think our butt cheeks are just as red as Standford Univiversity's school colors after its student paper, The Stanford Daily ran a stinging article on non-official evaluation websites today.

As much as we would love to believe that even bad press is good press, it does bother us that the only slant on the entire article was: 'is an evaluation website worth a single Ramen Noodle if it doesn't authenticate that every evaluation is made by an actual student?'

Who else WOULD be posting? Hmmm... Hey, you teenagers, high school dropouts and retirees better quit posting evaluations on our site!!!

Anyway, to see the story, click here.

Starting today it will be even easier to find the professor you're looking for. We've added Search Boxes to both the start page (where the U.S. and Canada maps are located) and on each school page.

Simply type in your professor's last name, hit "submit" and all matching professors will be shown. Also, on the school pages you can search by subject (in case you can't quite remember or spell that last name).

This was a big feature lots of students asked for on our post-evaluation survey. Keep the suggestions coming, we'll keep making it easier to use our site!

In our never-ending saga to make MyProfessorSucks.com easy-to-use, we have reversed the order that professor comments appear in.

Starting today, the newest evaluations a professor receives will appear towards the top of his or her page (previously the newest evaluations were at the bottom of the page or on subsequent pages).

Yep, you'll now get the "freshest" evaluations on your professors. Hope it helps!

We've added a survey to our site that will appear after a user submits an evaluation.

Today we made it even easier to find the professor you're looking for. We have added easy-to-use "alphabet" menus to all school pages.

Previously, if you wanted to find a professor whose last name started with "P", you had to scroll through multiple pages (for every professor whose name started with letters "A" through "O").

Now you just click "P" and you're there! Gotta love simplicity!

Today we made some major changes to the site. To avoid the very serious possibility of libel lawsuits from professors, we have implemented a new method of leaving comments for professors.

Starting immediately, students can choose "standard" comments from a list of 30 choices.

You can still submit your own comments by typing them in a type box. However, these comments will not be instantaneously posted to the site. A member of our staff will review each comment to make sure they are not libelous, defamatory or profane.

We see this change as a way to let students continue to evaluate their professors without completely stopping or suspending our operations. Thank you for your understanding.

We have just been featured in the NetSurf Digest. The following description appeared:

"Grades are often not the final word, as many graduates know. There's employment. Travel. Wealth. Revenge.... And for students at more than 2,800 American institutions of higher learning, there's MyProfessorSucks.com. At this eminently searchable site, where schools are identified and names are named, you can give your profs the grades - good, bad, indifferent - they so richly deserve, in anonymity, without fear of reprisal. Evaluation criteria include coolness, ease, and worth. Currently, the site has a contest with condoms and calling cards for prizes. You may derive satisfaction from the assumption that fellow students as well as innocents in your footsteps will benefit from your academic experience and insight. A few of your profs may, too. http://www.myprofessorsucks.com/"
